Polyester bag closing thread cone on a packaging line

Bag closing thread seals filled bags of flour, grain, feed, fertilizer and other bulk goods. Our thread is 100% spun polyester, supplied in two main counts and three cone weights, for woven polypropylene, kraft paper, cotton and jute bags.

Ne 12/4 or Ne 12/5?

CountNominal TexCone weights
Ne 12/4approx. Tex 200200 g / 2 kg / 5 kg
Ne 12/5approx. Tex 250200 g / 2 kg / 5 kg

Ne 12/5 has one more ply than Ne 12/4, so it is the heavier of the two. Which one you need depends on the bag material, the seam you expect and the needle and settings of your machine. The simplest way to decide is to match the thread you use today, or send a photo of a closed bag.

Choosing the cone weight

  • 200 g cones — portable bag closers and smaller packing stations
  • 2 kg and 5 kg cones — stationary sewing heads on grain, flour and general packing equipment
  • Large cones also suit continuous packaging lines, with fewer cone changes over long runs

What to confirm before ordering

  • Thread count: Ne 12/4 or Ne 12/5
  • Cone weight: 200 g, 2 kg or 5 kg
  • Machine: portable closer, stationary sewing head or continuous line
  • Bag material: woven PP, kraft paper, cotton, jute or other
  • Quantity and preferred outer packing — carton size and quantity per carton are confirmed with the final order
